About

Ruth Stanton is a contemporary artist working primarily in ceramic sculpture, printmaking and installation. Conceptually her practice focuses on acts of exchange and interaction in both personal relationships and in the creation of community. Her sculptural work is characterised by altered domestic objects and organic hand-shaped forms that suggest the interaction of their maker or user. These are often incorporated into interactive installations or social exchanges. Her print work depicts domestic objects, figures, and hands and explores the importance of making in personal identity.

Stanton gained her BFA Honours degree (First Class) from the University of Auckland / Elam School of Fine Arts.
